Ontario Lakes and Beaches

I think we in Toronto are incredibly lucky to have relatively easy access to the Great Lakes, and specifically Lake Ontario. We have one of the most beautiful city skylines to enjoy from the ferry or the islands, as well as gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.

There is definitely no shortage of gorgeous photos that showcase the natural beauty of the Great Lakes. But you know what they say: "There is always room for another good one". I tend to search for new angles or new ways of portraying a view that perhaps has been viewed already a million times. There are ways to introduce new angles and add your own flare to images. Oftentimes being in the right place at the right time and with the right equipment wins you half the battle, which is why I always recommend to get out and shoot as much as you can. How else can one develop a style and an eye for what they would like to photograph? Knowing your gear and having a vision for how you want the final image to look like is incredibly important, and these skills only come with some experience.

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.

Lake Ontario

Lake Ontario is definitely a stunner! And there is no shortage of gorgeous, but still very accessible, locations for photoshoots. I love the views of Toronto that Lake Ontario offers from Oakville, Niagara-On-The-Lake, and Totonro Islands. The views of the lake itself are stunning as well. Come early enough and you will most likely be able to catch a gorgeous sunrise.

Most Toronto beaches are also frequented by paddleboarders, kite surfers and boats. If lifestyle and sports photography are some of your interests, Toronto beaches certinly have a lot to offer.

Lake Simcoe

This is another fantastic destination with lots of beahces and a popular location for cottage-goers in the summer. It also offers beautiful views, clear water and stunning views.

I believe this lake is also known as Canada's ice fishing capital. People flock to the region in winter for competitions and for recreational fishing.

This place is perfect for lanscape photography, with lots of open spaces and open waters. I think next time we go we are going to have to rent a boat and watch the sunset from the lake. Surely it will be mesmerizing!
